At Edenfield C of E Primary School, we meet for Collective Worship on a daily basis. Daily Worship follows the teachings of the Bible and Jesus and contributes to the social, spiritual and moral development of all our pupils. The Headteacher (Worship Leader), Team Rector and members of the Pupil Wellbeing/Ethos Committee meet each term to plan the themes in detail; these are based on Christian values, the Bible and Christian Festivals.
Reflection Friday allows the children in every class to reflect on the week’s Worship theme and all the evaluations and prayers collected over the week are summarised in a weekly document and shared with the Headteacher.
All of the staff are involved in leading Whole School Worship and the children take it in turns to lead Family Worship on a Friday afternoon. These occasions are attended by our families, friends and members of the local community. Reverend Andy Lindop (Edenfield Parish Team Rector), Miss Pam Thomas (Edenfield Parish Church Reader) and Reverend John Illsley (Methodist Minister) visit school regularly to lead Collective Worship. We also lead family Services at Edenfield Parish Church on a half termly basis (see Church tab for further details).
Through Whole School Worship and the Christian aspects of the RE Curriculum, it is our aim to ensure that the children have an excellent knowledge of the life and person of Jesus and an understanding of the nature of God as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We help the children to appreciate the Holy Spirit is a gift that can help us in our daily lives and by demonstrating the fruits of the holy spirit, we can make our school a peaceful, happy and loving place in which to learn and grow. Our Prayer of the Month and Thought of the Week support the themes explored in Whole School Worship.
