At the beginning of this half term, we enjoyed a super science week in school. The children participated in a wide range of investigations linked to the theme of ‘material madness’. Activities included:
· Visits from Haslingden High science department
· Making cheese
· Making ice-cream
· Testing circuits
· Investigating chemical reactions
· Imaginative recording systems
The week culminated in a science exhibition in the dining hall where pupils proudly demonstrated a range of experiments and explained the science behind these. Parents and friends attended and expressed their amazement at the children’s knowledge and understanding. It is our aim to highlight the excitement and wonder of science and we are sure this has been achieved. Year 6 followed up this science work with a visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach where they learned about the impact of forces on different roller coasters.
