Pupils have enjoyed a super science week in school. The children participated in a wide range of investigations linked to the theme of ‘Exploration and Discovery’. Activities included:
* Making lava lamps
* Investigating the insulation properties of different materials
* Investigating chemical reactions
* Imaginative recording systems
* A science show by travelling scientist, Mr Adrian Bowden
* A class study of a famous scientist or explorer
The week culminated in a science exhibition in the dining hall where pupils proudly demonstrated a range of experiments and explained the science behind these. Parents and friends attended and expressed their amazement at the children’s knowledge and understanding. It is has been our aim to highlight the excitement and wonder of science and we are sure this has now been achieved. Year 6 will follow up this science work with a visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach where they will learn about the impact of forces on different roller coasters.
