On Thursday 23rd February, children from years 4, 5 and 6 travelled to King George’s hall with Mrs Hope to perform in the Rossendale dance Competition organised by the Rossendale Sports Partnership. Mrs Hope had been working very hard with the dance group over several weeks to create the dance called: This is my Earth, it’s not perfect, but it’s mine! The dance was designed to highlight the wonder of our world, set against the backdrop of the vast universe. The children danced and performed beautifully to portray how the earth is unique and special. They also showed, through movement and expression, how we are all called to action, to make a difference, to change the trajectory and thus the destiny of our world. Their key message was:
Our planet is not perfect, but it is ours, we love it and want to protect it. Will you stand with us?
Although the children were not placed on the night, the hosts and organisers both expressed how Edenfield’s performance moved them to tears and I am sure our parents watching in the audience were also left feeling both emotional and very proud. I know Mrs Hope and the staff who attended on the night were extremely proud of the children and their wonderful dancing.
